The two Hybrid ORs in Varese, which were inaugurated recently, are the latest result of the ongoing partnership between Getinge and Siemens Healthineers AG.

The installation features Getinge’s Maquet Magnus operating tables, which are synchronized with the interventional X-ray equipment in the OR. The project also incorporates Maquet Moduevo ceiling supply units and Maquet PowerLED II surgical lights.

Getinge has equipped the multi-modality Hybrid ORs with advanced digital solutions, such as the Tegris OR Integration system for video, device and data integration, including Video-over-IP for transmitting video signals over an IP network.

The multi-modality Hybrid ORs feature a high-end robotic angiography imaging system for hybrid surgical interventions, ARTIS pheno® *, and an innovative computed tomography (CT) scanner, SOMATOM Edge Plus Sliding Gantry, located between the two ORs and operated on rails to allow flexible use in either operating room.

“These Hybrid rooms will revolutionize the work of healthcare professionals and provide significant advantages regarding patient safety. The ability to connect the high-end angiography imaging system and fully integrate it in the operating rooms is a major step towards more streamlined and coordinated surgeries,” says Luca Sartori, Senior Project Manager, Surgical Workflows Getinge Italy.

About Getinge

With a firm belief that every person and community should have access to the best possible care, Getinge provides hospitals and life science institutions with products and solutions that aim to improve clinical results and optimize workflows. The offering includes products and solutions for intensive care, cardiovascular procedures, operating rooms, sterile reprocessing and life science. Getinge employs approximately 12,000 people worldwide and the products are sold in more than 135 countries.

The new hybrid rooms are designed to integrate several state-of-the-art technologies. Within them we find a dedicated angiograph for interventional cardiology and a sliding gantry CT to support both neurosurgery and cardio. In the dedicated neurosurgery room are technologies that support the surgeon with three-dimensional technology.

Today, Getinge and 908 Devices announce their collaboration to integrate Getinge’s bioreactors with 908 Devices’ MAVEN for automated control of glucose and lactate levels in cell cultures. The combined solution will help scientists measure critical process parameters in bioreactors, offering continuous, real-time analysis without the need for manual sampling.

Among the innovations in the project is the implementation of 3D technology, which is particularly required to meet the needs of neurosurgery. The integration of compatible systems allows operations to be visualized with a sense of depth never seen before. In addition, the image integration system supports signal export, facilitating video conferencing and real-time consultations. With 75-inch monitors in ultra-high resolution 4K, operators can enjoy greater accuracy and comfort during operations.
